Very good blog! Do you have any tips for aspiring writers?
I’m hoping to start my own site soon but I’m a little lost on everything.
Would you advise starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option?
There are so many choices out there that I’m totally overwhelmed ..
Any tips? Appreciate it!
Hi Malissa – Thanks for your comment. Like you I’m an aspiring writer you started from the same beginning. Of being overwhelmed with everything! Basically I started to break the myriad of things into bite size chunks. This made my thinking more manageable. From here I decided on a plan. WordPress is fantastic for creating your own website, building your brand, finding your community, learning from like minded bloggers, and asking questions & sharing information. It’s also a great platform to practice exposing your writing to an audience. Social media is also key. Goodreads too. The trick is knowing what you want – what kind of writer are you, and what are your goals. From there it’s building the foundation. When you independently publish you were all hats! Writing, marketing, distributing, cover design, production….you name it. But it’s not as bad as it sounds. Just takes determination, and the golden rule. To writer, you have to, well, write 🙂 I’m happy to help, let me know if you have any questions. Enjoy your weekend.
